Why

Momentary glances
Tossed here and there
Mixed with a worn hope
To find a bit of peace
To find a quiet corner for a moment’s rest
Ah, taste sweet stillness.

A crowded life
A flood of endless faces
Staring endless stares
Awaiting my decision
I stare back
No ground given

What pain is this
Borne without necessity
Why do we cursed beings
Fall like leaves from autumn trees
Dissolving self into tomorrow’s soil

Why snoop and sniff
Like dogs, for buried treasure dig
In lifeless earth, relentless
Self-blinded to the unacknowledged cost
Why die in such a manner
Because most others do
