Dissolution

So tempted by these pledges that I give
Each long day’s dying gasp, to keep, to take
It all, and hold it all, that I might live
My moments last; a wind upon a lake
Cold, crisp-chilled breath that seeps through soul,
A sieve sifting sadness,
Tear’s salt and sand that cake
Crust and cover cheeks that burn from love lost
Forgive me please for lost time
Now my owns at stake
I cannot, will not choose to share your plight
And cannot, will not choose to call old new
Or spend more dead hours
In empty night-moon-madness
Howling veiled threats at ice-blue
Hollowed coffin eyes
With heart-strings stretched tune tight
Stranded in the circle of your light.
